Не такая уж простая, как может показаться… Родился Маршалл Брюс Мэтерс III (это настоящее имя Эминема), 17 октября 1972 года. Странно, но в разных источниках указываються разные даты рождения: на многих сайтах указаны 1972 и 1973 года, а по данным MTV он родился в 1975. Когда ему исполнилось 6 месяцев, отец бросил семью. Молодые годы Маршалла были неустойчивы и беспокойны. Его часто оставляют жить у родственников. Он привязывается к дяде Ронни, брату своей матери. Эминем со своей матерью постоянно переезжает с места на место. В школе, где учился Эминем , были преймуществено черные подростки. Одна из песен, которую он написал, была "Brain Damage" - "Повреждение мозга". После окончания 9-го класса, Эминем бросает школу и начинает серьёзно заниматься рэпом, совершенствоя свои навыки. Каждую ночь Эминем выступал в прямом ефире на одной из месных радиостанций. В 1992 году, летом, дядя Ронии приезжат к Маршаллу в Детройт. История

17 октября 1973 года в городе Сент-Джозеф, штат Миссури, появился на свет Маршал Брюс Матерс III. Кстати, появился, когда его матери было всего 15. Роды длились трое суток. Когда Эминем был ребенком, близкие звали его Микки — из-за больших, как у Микки Мауса, ушей, но будущая звезда рэпа не обижалась. Несмотря на то, что он ходячий словарь рифм, постоянное давление окружения и акцент на безупречную рифму, каждый раз понемногу выматывают его. И хотя он всегда готов принять вызов, его страх выдать пресные строчки под этим давлением отравляет ему мозг.

Для Эма, это все не так просто — он чувствует, что независимо от того, насколько остры его рифмы, так или иначе, поклонники отрегируют незамедлительно, критикуя и осуждая, подпитывая его неуверенность в себе. Здесь он также умело обыгрывает классическую поговорку про горькую пилюлю, которую так трудно проглотить, заменив ее Викодином (когда-то он читал об этом наркотике в песнях).
